Work done to Fountain Alley Parking Lot on Saturday and Sunday, May 10-11
The Fountain Alley Parking Lot off Second Street between San Fernando and Santa Clara streets will be re-sealed and re-striped.  The lot will be closed from 6 a.m. May 10 to 6 a.m. May 12.

Parking in downtown San Jose is as abundant, convenient and friendly as ever.

Downtown visitors must now pay a $2 fee after 6 pm in all city-owned parking lots and garages except the lot under I-280 at South First Street and the lot at Almaden/Balbach, which will still be free nights and weekends.  Revenues support increased maintenance and safety in the facilities, and to develop future parking supply downtown.

Drivers downtown will find $2 parking after 6 pm at these facilities:

  • Third Street lot between The 88 and Repertory Theater
  • Market and San Pedro Garage
  • Third Street Garage
  • Fourth and St. John Garage
  • Second and San Carlos Garage
  • Second and San Fernando lot
  • Fourth Street Garage
  • First and St. James lot
  • Second and St. James lot
  • Pavilion Garage

There are still ways to park FREE downtown.  Many of the garages and lots listed will be free from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Drivers can also obtain two-hour free parking with validations from businesses for most of these garages.  In addition, many of them accept cinema validations.
